RetireOdds ("we," "us," or "our") helps you plan for retirement by bringing your net worth, portfolio, spending, and tax picture into one place. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We built RetireOdds to handle sensitive financial data, and we treat your privacy as a core feature — not an afterthought.
The short version: Your financial data is yours. We use it only to power the planning features you ask for. We don't sell it, we don't rent it, and we don't share it with advertisers.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account information — your email address and a display name when you sign up. If you use a passkey, we store the public credential associated with your account (never a password you have to remember).
- Financial information you enter or import — net worth entries, account balances, holdings and positions, liabilities, income, expenses, retirement assumptions, country and tax settings, and any notes you add. This may include data imported from a brokerage CSV file you choose to upload.
- Communications — messages you send us for support or feedback.
Information collected automatically
- Session and security data — a session cookie that keeps you signed in, plus basic technical information (such as IP address and browser type) used to operate and secure the service.
- Usage data — limited information about how the application is used so we can fix bugs and improve features.
Information from third parties
To show live prices and currency conversions, we retrieve market quotes and foreign-exchange rates from third-party data providers. These requests use the ticker symbols and currencies in your plan; we do not transmit your identity or balances to those providers.
2. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide the core service — calculating net worth, running Monte Carlo retirement simulations, and displaying your portfolio, cash flow, and tax views;
- Authenticate you and keep your account secure;
- Fetch live prices and exchange rates relevant to your holdings;
- Respond to your support requests;
- Diagnose problems, prevent abuse, and improve the product;
- Comply with legal obligations.
We do not use your financial data for advertising, and we do not sell your personal information.
3. How your information is shared
We share information only in these limited circumstances:
- Service providers — infrastructure, hosting, and market-data vendors that process data on our behalf under confidentiality obligations and only as needed to run RetireOdds.
- Legal reasons — when required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of RetireOdds, our users, or others.
- Business transfers — if RetireOdds is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred, subject to this policy.
4. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal and financial data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain it for legal, accounting, or security reasons.
5. Security
We protect your account with passkey-based authentication (WebAuthn), encrypted connections (HTTPS), and access controls that limit who can reach your data. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to safeguard your information and to promptly address any vulnerabilities we discover.
6. Your choices and rights
- Access and correction — you can view and edit the financial information in your account at any time.
- Deletion — you can delete entries, or request deletion of your entire account, by contacting us.
- Data portability — much of your data can be exported or re-entered in standard formats.
- Regional rights — depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of your personal information. Contact us to exercise them.
7. Cookies
We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies — primarily to keep you signed in and to protect against cross-site request forgery. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
8. Children's privacy
RetireOdds is intended for adults making financial plans. It is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
9. International users
RetireOdds may process and store information in countries other than your own. Where we transfer data across borders, we take steps to ensure it remains protected consistent with this policy.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Your continued use of RetireOdds after an update means you accept the revised policy.
